The garden is great! I couldn't recommend staying here anymore. Jeff was very helpful when we arrived. Thank you for having us. A little piece of heaven tucked away in the Wicklow countryside. This is the most amazing place. Barbara and Joe are such warm hosts; the room we had was luxurious; the setting so peaceful and our two night stay was the best we could have ever imagined. Alex was an awesome host, provided a great tour of the castle, it's history, and gave us run of the enchanting gardens complete with a detailed map of the different areas on the grounds. Great interaction with our five year old, catering to every whim, making sure he was included in all of the conversations, and activities.
Alex and his lovely wife prepared a a delicious traditional Irish breakfast for us, which we enjoyed in the beautiful sunroom. Taking a final leisurely stroll around the gardens, we stopped to say hello to the pigs and watch Percy the peacock strut!

There is also a wide selection of equestrian facilities in the local area including Wicklow Equestrian Centre and Bel-Air Equestrian Centre in Ashford.

We hope you arrive as a guest but depart as friends. Mickey Finns Micro Brewery is only a two minute walk from our house where you will also find the bistro. Why not visit the New Craft store in the village that supports local craft makers but also boasts a Brazilian flare. The pool and social area downstairs was pretty empty during the week, so we had the place to ourselves most of the time.
There were a few more families there during the weekend, but still plenty of space for everyone. There is a convenience store about 50m from the front door so you can grab any small things you need there, or there is a new large supermarket just a 5min drive west of the condo if you want to get a lot of groceries. We ate at Nico's beach restaurant next door once and found it just OK, so we didn't bother trying CokoBlue.
But we ate at Pipa's Beach Bar which is a m walk in the other direction and liked that better. The mattresses were bit firm for our liking, and the bed frames a little squeaky, but overall we had a great stay at Maria's! Gorgeous view, wonderful beach and swimming. Liked being in a neighbourhood setting rather than a gated complex. Building is secure 24 hours.
Both car rental and collectivos local buses nearby. Good access to groceries - though bought most of our food at the Rio Hato Fish and Seafood Market nearby. Being Canadian, we flew from Montreal direct to the small Rio Hato airport and a minute taxi ride to the condo - under 90 minutes from time of landing to walking on the beach!
The place is very clean and work friendly. Carlos being a Helicopter Pilot, with his busy schedule still made time for taking me around with my crazy schedule. Showing you local dining and food, helipads and choppers, old town views, to take your pictures he does a clean job in it.
The space was perfect for a rest from heavy travels. I was just passing though and had no interest in the city so the location was great. Carlos even drove me to the canal the same day and has lots of knowledge about the land and history. Nevertheless, I would like to stress out that you need to have very clear in your mind what to expect from your stay in Villa Bella. This barriada is on a hill. It has an automatic gate that let people in and out. The good stuff is that everyone is super friendly in the neighborhood and you do not need air conditioning if you live Villa Bella because of the unique climate of this magic area. The bad stuff is that to reach the house you have to climb a very stiff uphill and you need to be in very good shape to do it.
I did not have a problem at all, but I would not advise to rent a room in Villa Bella to someone in bad shape who does not have a car, or does not want to use a taxi. Another issue to take under consideration is the trip to Chivo Chivo and to the metro station of San Isidro.
